Information we collect

Information you give us

If you email or message us, subscribe to our newsletter, or use any feature that asks for details, we receive whatever you choose to share. This is usually your name, email address, phone number (if you message us on WhatsApp) and the content of your message.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, we and our service providers automatically receive some technical information when you visit, such as:

  • your IP address and approximate location (city or country level)
  • browser type, device type and operating system
  • the pages you view, the time you spend on them and the page that sent you to us
  • the date and time of your visit

This information is collected through server logs, cookies and analytics tools. It helps us understand how the Site is used and keep it secure. Our Cookie Policy explains cookies in more detail.

How we use your information

  • To reply to your emails and messages
  • To send our newsletter, only if you have subscribed
  • To understand which content is useful and improve the Site
  • To keep the Site safe, and to detect spam, abuse and technical problems
  • To show advertising that helps cover the cost of running the Site
  • To meet our legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information.

Advertising and Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to show ads on the Site. Here is what that means for you:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this Site or other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.
  • To learn how Google uses data from sites that use its services, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

We don't control the cookies that advertisers set, and their own privacy policies apply to how they use your data.

Visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland: we ask for your consent before using cookies for advertising and analytics, through a consent message on the Site. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time.

Analytics

We may use analytics tools such as Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Site, for example which pages are popular and where visitors come from. These tools use cookies and give us summary reports. We use this data to improve our content, not to identify individual visitors.

Newsletter and emails

If you subscribe to our newsletter, your email address is stored with our email service provider, which sends the emails on our behalf. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also write to us to be removed. We won't share your email address with advertisers.

Who we share information with

We share information only when needed, and only with:

  • Service providers who help us run the Site, such as web hosting, email delivery, analytics and advertising partners. They can use the information only to provide their services to us.
  • Authorities, if the law requires it or if we need to protect our rights, our users or the Site.
  • A future owner, if the Site is ever transferred or sold. We would tell you if that changed how your information is handled.
